Robert Skinner was born and raised on the Adelaide plains. Having learned early on the value of a hard day’s work, he spent most of his adult life trying to avoid it.
He worked for several years as an outback tour guide before moving to Melbourne, where he helped found a short story magazine called The Canary Press.
He now lives in Melbourne, where he works in a bookshop and plays football at the lowest level.
